The Night Before Launch

 

'Twas the night before launch, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
 
New content was posted on our website with care,
In hopes that new customers soon would be there;
 
The marketers were wired on coffee and blogs;
While visions of visitors turned the sales cogs;
 
And mamma on Facebook, and I on my Twitter,
Thinking that, "quitting cold calling doesn't make me a 'quitter.'"
 
When out from my smartphone there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my couch to see what was the matter.
 
To my Hubspot portal I flew like a flash,
Clicked open the contacts and an individual's dash(board).
 
My eyes on the history of our new lead conversion,
Gave a feeling of joy with their buyer's journey immersion.
 
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a sales notification from Sidekick was near.
 
I picked up the phone so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment the call must be slick.
 
More rapid than eagles I dialed their number,
They were engaged to our business, not at dinner or in slumber:
 
"Here's value! ...Some answers! ...And education, I'll listen!
We identified your problems; let's cure them with our mission!
Whether Accounting or SaaS or Commerce or Staffing
Education or Start-ups - There are problems worth solving"
 
Hanging up, an appointment was set to explore,
The root of the challenges their business abhors;
 
So into CRM the new data it flew
With the profile of info, and conversion dates too—
 
And then, in a twinkling, a notification bell plays
They accepted my invite - we'll meet in a few days.
 
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the pipeline more leads came in with INbound.
 
They were dressed all in data, from first contact to now,
With patterns of interest, engagement, and "pow!";
 
A bundle of media that smelled of sweet roses,
As diverse as their deliverables and problems and diagnosis.
 
My eyes—how they twinkled! The analytics, how merry!
Each lead like a snowflake, unique to their query!
 
Some were kicking the tires; others asking for bids,
No-one was feeling disrupted or blowing their lids;
 
Outbound cold-calling has lost all its teeth,
Pitching and spamming are really last week;
 
A lead gen process that warms up each call,
That brings them to me each Winter through Fall.
 
Through optimized pages, social media, and blogging
Exchanging education keeps my pipeline from clogging.
 
A wink of my eye and a twist of my head
When I pick up the phone I have nothing to dread;
 
I speak not a pitch, but go straight to my work,
Analyzing their problems; never feel like a jerk,
 
And laying my fingers to write all my notes,
Both systems updated with the things that I wrote;
 
Thanks to Hubspot and inbound the process is easy,
No more empty pipelines that make me feel queasy.
 
You may hear me exclaim as I land the big whales,
“Happy Inbound to all, and to all increased sales!”
